Stick
Palo is the name given to the sub-classifications of Flamenco. Depending on the measure, the scale used, the chord progression, the theme addressed in the lyrics and other more outstanding features of the songs, they can be classified in different ways, so that songs in the same suit have similar characteristics. Among the main flamenco sticks are Seguiriya, Soleá, Bulería, Alegría, Rumba, Tango, Fandango and Sevillana. The Martinete is considered the oldest palo, called a palo palo, that is, without guitar accompaniment. In a way, some of these palos were traditional songs that later were incorporated to Flamenco. Therefore, many do not consider Sevillanas, for example, to be Flamenco. It is worth noting that there are several other sticks besides these, a hundred, like Canastera, Alboreá, Petenera, etc. Each stick contains striking features that can identify them. Thus the jondo sticks are heavier, sad, like the Soleá. There are, however, songs that show a certain mix of these characteristics.
