The Republic of China (RC), commonly known as China National or Nationalist, Taiwan, Taiwan, Taiwan or Taiuan (Chinese: 臺灣 or 台灣 (traditional), 台湾 (simplified), is an island state located in East Asia, which evolved of a single-party state with global recognition and full jurisdiction over China in a democratic state, with limited international recognition and with competence over the island of Taiwan and other smaller islands, despite enjoying de facto relations with many other States. 1949 was the internationally recognized government of China and as such was one of the founding members of the United Nations and one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council until it was replaced by the People's Republic of China in 1971. Founded in In 1912, the Republic of China covered much of mainland China and Mongolia. At the end of World War II, with the surrender of Japan, the Republic of China added the group islands of Taiwan and Penghu to its jurisdiction. A República da China (RC), conhecida comumente como China Nacional ou Nacionalista, Formosa, Taiwan, Taiuã ou Taiuan (em chinês: 臺灣 ou 台灣 (tradicional), 台湾 (simplificado), é um Estado insular localizado na Ásia Oriental, que evoluiu de um estado de partido único com reconhecimento mundial e jurisdição plena sobre a China em um estado democrático, com reconhecimento internacional limitado e com competência sobre a ilha de Taiwan e outras ilhas menores, apesar de usufruir de relações de facto com muitos outros Estados. Até 1949, foi o governo da China reconhecido internacionalmente e, como tal, foi um dos membros fundadores da Organização das Nações Unidas e um dos cinco membros permanentes do Conselho de Segurança da ONU, até ser substituído pela República Popular da China em 1971. Fundada em 1912, a República da China abrangeu grande parte da China continental e da Mongólia. No final da Segunda Guerra Mundial, com a rendição do Japão, a República da China acrescentou o grupo ilhas de Taiwan e Penghu à sua jurisdição.
