The organ is named "Organum" in Latin, and the real name in Turkic is "Erganun" from the word "Orhanon" in Greek. İlk yapımı çok eski yüzyıllara uzanıp (MÖ 150-200 yıllarında) Mısır da Ktesibios adında birinin Pan Flavtası'nın çok büyüğünü su gücüyle çalıştırarak sesler elde ettiği ve böylelikle ilk su orgunu yaptığı söylenir.
