El antílope o chiru tibetano es un nativo de tamaño mediano bovino de la meseta tibetana. Menos de 75.000 personas se quedan en la naturaleza, por debajo de un millón. En los últimos años, se han puesto en peligro debido a la caza furtiva. Son cazados por su suave y cálida lana que sólo se puede obtener después de la muerte. Esta lana se conoce como 'shahtoosh' y se utiliza para tejer chales. En la actualidad el comercio internacional de sus productos está estrictamente prohibido.
