Escarpa
Una escarpa es una pendiente empinada o un acantilado largo que ocurre de la falla y de la erosión resultante y separa dos áreas relativamente niveladas de diversas elevaciones. Por lo general escarpe se utiliza indistintamente con escarpa. Sin embargo, algunas fuentes diferencian los dos términos, donde la escarpa se refiere al margen entre dos formas de relieve, mientras que la escarpa es sinónimo de un acantilado o pendiente pronunciada. La superficie de la pendiente escarpada se llama cara escarpada.
