Evapotranspiración
La evapotranspiración es la suma de la evaporación y la transpiración de la planta desde la superficie terrestre y oceánica hasta la atmósfera. La evaporación explica el movimiento del agua hacia el aire de fuentes tales como el suelo, la interceptación del dosel y los cuerpos de agua. La transpiración explica el movimiento del agua dentro de una planta y la consiguiente pérdida de agua como vapor a través de los estomas en sus hojas. La evapotranspiración es una parte importante del ciclo del agua. Un elemento que contribuye a la evapotranspiración puede llamarse evapotranspirador. La evapotranspiración potencial es una representación de la demanda ambiental de evapotranspiración y representa la tasa de evapotranspiración de un cultivo verde corto, completamente sombreado del suelo, de altura uniforme y con un estado de agua adecuado en el perfil del suelo. Es un reflejo de la energía disponible para evaporar el agua, y del viento disponible para transportar el vapor de agua desde el suelo hasta la atmósfera inferior. Se dice que la evapotranspiración real equivale a la evapotranspiración potencial cuando hay abundante agua.
