Facies
En geología, una facies es un cuerpo de roca con características especificadas. Idealmente, una facies es una unidad de roca distintiva que se forma bajo ciertas condiciones de sedimentación, reflejando un proceso o ambiente particular. El término facies fue introducido por el geólogo suizo Amanz Gressly en 1838 y fue parte de su importante contribución a los fundamentos de la estratigrafía moderna, que reemplazó las nociones anteriores de Neptunismo.
