Parthenium argentatum, comúnmente conocido como el Guayule, es un arbusto de flores en la familia Aster, Asteraceae, que es nativa del suroeste de Estados Unidos y el norte de México. Se puede encontrar en los estados de los Estados Unidos de Nuevo México y Texas y los estados mexicanos de Zacatecas, Coahuila, Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí, Nuevo León y Tamaulipas. La planta se puede utilizar como una fuente alternativa de látex que también es hipoalergénico, a diferencia del caucho Hevea normal. En épocas precolombinas, el guayule era una fuente secundaria del látex para el caucho, la fuente principal era el árbol de Castilla elastica. El nombre "guayule" deriva de la palabra náhuatl ulli / olli, "caucho".
