El síndrome de Savant es una condición en la cual una persona con una discapacidad mental, tal como un trastorno del espectro autista, demuestra capacidades profundas y prodigiosas o habilidades muy superiores a lo que se consideraría normal. Las personas con síndrome de Savant pueden tener trastornos del desarrollo neurológico, especialmente trastornos del espectro autista o lesiones cerebrales. Los ejemplos más dramáticos de síndrome de savant ocurren en los individuos que puntúan muy bajo en pruebas del coeficiente intelectual, mientras que demuestran habilidades excepcionales o brillantez en áreas específicas, tales como cálculo rápido, arte, memoria, o capacidad musical. A pesar del nombre "síndrome", no se reconoce como un trastorno mental ni como parte del trastorno mental en manuales médicos como la CIE-10 o el DSM-V.
