Embarcadero
Un embarcadero es cualquiera de una variedad de estructuras utilizadas en obras fluviales, portuarias y marítimas que generalmente se llevan a cabo en pares desde las orillas de los ríos o en la continuación de los canales del río en sus salidas en aguas profundas; O fuera en los muelles, y fuera de sus entradas; O para formar cuencas a lo largo de la costa para puertos en mares sin mar. Las formas y construcción de estos embarcaderos son tan variadas como sus usos, ya que se forman a veces de madera abierta, a veces de proyecciones bajas y, en ocasiones, sólo se diferencian de los rompeolas en su objeto. El término derivado de la palabra francesa jetée, "arrojado", y significa algo arrojado. Los muelles en la costa que se han levantado y ampliado ayudan a evitar la deriva de la orilla larga y por lo tanto retrasan la erosión de la playa.
