Book of Jonah

El Libro de Jonás es uno de los Profetas Menores en la Biblia Hebrea. Cuenta la historia de un profeta hebreo llamado Jonás, hijo de Amittai, quien es enviado por Dios para profetizar la destrucción de Nínive pero trata de escapar de la misión divina. Establecido en el reinado de Jeroboam II, probablemente fue escrito en el período post-exilic, en algún momento entre finales del siglo 5 a principios del siglo IV aC. The Book of Jonah is one of the Minor Prophets in the Hebrew Bible. It tells the story of a Hebrew prophet named Jonah son of Amittai who is sent by God to prophesy the destruction of Nineveh but tries to escape the divine mission. Set in the reign of Jeroboam II, it was probably written in the post-exilic period, sometime between the late 5th to early 4th century BC. The story has an interesting interpretive history and has become well-known through popular children's stories. In Judaism it is the Haftarah for the afternoon of Yom Kippur due to its story of God's willingness to forgive those who repent.
