QUÉ SIGNIFICA LATINITY EN INGLÉS

La romanización o latinización -en los significados históricos y culturales de ambos términos- indica diferentes procesos históricos, como la aculturación, integración y asimilación de poblaciones recién incorporadas y periféricas por la República Romana y el posterior Imperio Romano. La antigua historiografía romana y la historiografía italiana hasta el período fascista solían llamar a estos diversos procesos la "civilización de los bárbaros". La aculturación procedía de arriba abajo, las clases altas adoptaban primero la cultura romana y las antiguas maneras de prolongarse en los barrios periféricos entre los campesinos. Los rehenes desempeñaron un papel importante en este proceso, ya que los niños de élite, de Mauretania a Galia, fueron llevados para ser educados y educados en Roma. La antigua historiografía romana y la historiografía italiana tradicional identificaron con confianza los diferentes procesos involucrados con una "civilización de los bárbaros".
