En la informática, un mouseover, mouse hover o hover box es una sección de una interfaz gráfica de usuario de computadora que se plantea cuando el usuario se mueve o "asoma" el puntero sobre un área particular de la GUI. La técnica es particularmente común en los navegadores web donde la URL de un hipervínculo se puede ver en la barra de estado. Los diseñadores de sitios pueden definir fácilmente sus propios eventos de mouseover usando JavaScript y Cascading Style Sheets. En caso de múltiples capas, el evento mouseover es activado por la capa superior. Mouseover eventos no se limitan a diseño web y se utilizan comúnmente en la programación GUI moderna. Su existencia puede que ni siquiera sea conocida por el usuario ya que los eventos pueden ser utilizados para llamar a cualquier función y pueden afectar sólo al funcionamiento interno del programa.
