Gonochorismo
En biología, gonochorism o unisexualism o gonochory describe el estado de tener sólo uno de al menos dos sexos distintos en cualquier organismo individual. El término se usa con mayor frecuencia en animales, en los que los organismos individuales son a menudo gonochorous. Gonochory es menos común en las plantas. Por ejemplo, en las plantas con flores, las flores individuales pueden ser hermafroditas o gonochorous, no teniendo ni estambres ni ovarios. Entre las especies de flores de plantas que tienen flores unisexuales, algunas también producen flores hermafroditas, y los tres tipos se producen en diferentes arreglos en plantas separadas; Las plantas pueden ser monóicas, dioicas, poligamomonoecious, polygamodioecious, andromonoecious, o gynomonoecious. A diferencia de la mayoría de los flatworms, los esquistosomas son gonochoristic. La hembra estrecha se puede ver emergiendo del canal gynecophoral más grueso del varón debajo de su lechón ventral. El sexo es más a menudo determinado genéticamente, pero puede ser determinado por otros mecanismos.
