Stras

Stras: una imitación de diamante sintético hecha de vidrio esmerilado, vidrio acrílico o, cada vez menos, un cristal de montaña cuyas paredes inferiores están cubiertas con una sustancia que mejora el brillo y otras cualidades estéticas. El nombre proviene del inventor del joyero argelino del siglo XVIII, Georg Friedrich Strasse, que vertió el metal en la parte inferior del vidrio esmerilado. Stras se caracteriza por un alto brillo y un alto brillo de la luz, pero estos parámetros son peores que los parámetros que caracterizan a los diamantes reales. Además, la resistencia al rayado y, por lo tanto, la durabilidad son mucho más bajas que las piedras preciosas originales. En la actualidad, el mayor fabricante de stras es la empresa austriaca Swarovski, que ofrece correas con el nombre comercial de "Swarovski crystal", Elite Crystals y la compañía checa Preciosa.

Nazwa pochodzi od wynalazcy, XVIII-wiecznego alzackiego jubilera, Georga Friedricha Strassa, który napylał metal na spodnią stronę oszlifowanego szkła ołowiowego. Stras cechuje się wysokim blaskiem oraz wysoką łamliwością światła, jednak parametry te są gorsze od parametrów, które charakteryzują prawdziwe diamenty. Również odporność na zarysowania, a zatem i trwałość, są dużo niższe niż w oryginalnych kamieniach szlachetnych. Obecnie największym producentem strasu jest austriacka firma Swarovski, oferująca stras pod nazwą handlową "kryształ Swarovskiego", Elite Crystals oraz czeska firma Preciosa.
