El caballo de Trakehner - una raza del origen del caballo de Old Prussian. Schweiken - potentes ponies prusianos criados por los prusianos, pero apropiados por la orden teutónica como todo en el área. Schweikens / trakens siempre estuvieron en el centro de interés, y por lo tanto fueron sometidos para igualar las características de un caballo primitivo persistente con el crecimiento, la fuerza, la velocidad y el buen carácter del inglés de pura sangre y los caballos árabes puros. En 1732, el Rebaño Royal Trakezine fue fundado por Federico Guillermo I de Prusia, de donde vino el nombre de este caballo. Este caballo tiene una cabeza noble con ojos grandes, cuello largo y bien formado, bastante corto pero alto y bien definido. Su pecho es ancho y los hombros largos y oblicuos. La espalda larga y fuerte termina con un trasero ligeramente inclinado y musculoso. Sus piernas son delicadas pero secas y con huesos fuertes. Su altura a la cruz suele ser de 160-175 cm. El color es uniforme, pero no gris.

Koń trakeński – rasa konia pochodzenia staropruskiego. Przodkiem konia trakeńskiego jest schweiken – silny pruski kuc, wyhodowany przez Prusów, ale przywłaszczony jak wszystko na tym terenie przez zakon krzyżacki. Schweikeny/trakeny zawsze były w centrum zainteresowania, dlatego też poddawano je krzyżówkom uszlachetniającym, aby połączyć cechy wytrwałego konia prymitywnego ze wzrostem, wytrzymałością, szybkością oraz dobrym charakterem koni pełnej krwi angielskiej i czystej arabskiej. W 1732 roku została założona przez Fryderyka Wilhelma I Pruskiego Królewska Stadnina Trakenów w Trakenach, skąd wzięła się nazwa tego konia. Koń ten posiada szlachetną głowę z dużymi oczami, długą, dobrze ukształtowaną szyję, kłąb dość krótki, ale wysoki i dobrze zarysowany. Jego pierś jest szeroka, a łopatki długie i skośne. Średnio długi, silny grzbiet kończy się lekko opadającym i dobrze umięśnionym zadem. Jego nogi są delikatne, ale suche i o mocnej kości. Jego wysokość w kłębie wynosi zazwyczaj 160-175 cm. Umaszczenie ma jednolite, ale raczej nie siwe.
