La veza es una planta anual de forraje estacional que ocupa un lugar importante en los alimentos de grano de la familia de las leguminosas. Hay un sistema de raíz que es débil y poco desarrollado. Sin embargo, las raíces laterales se desarrollan bien. Promedio 40-60 cm dependiendo del medio. Puede ser ordenadas. Las hojas 4-6 pares salen del cuadrado, los extremos frondosos son agudos. La fruta es un frijol típico; 3-5 cm. de longitud, con un promedio de 5-6 granos. La capacidad de adaptación es una buena planta. Pero a él no le gustan los suelos más ácidos. El invierno puede cultivarse bien en las regiones templadas a comienzos del otoño. El invierno se siembra en regiones frías. La semilla se usa en octubre a 8-10 o incluso 12 kg. Se planta de 3 a 5 cm de profundidad. La cantidad de veza cultivada en Turquía es de 540,000 toneladas de hierba verde y 410,000 toneladas de hierba seca según los datos de 2004 proporcionados por TURKSTAT.
