Un pays alternatif, un pays insurrectionnel ou Americana est un sous-genre de musique country qui est légèrement défini, ce qui comprend des actes qui diffèrent sensiblement du style de la musique country traditionnelle ou pop. Il a été utilisé pour décrire les groupes de musique country et les artistes qui ont incorporé des influences allant de roots rock, bluegrass, rockabilly, honky-tonk, rock alternatif, folk rock et parfois punk. Les tentatives de combiner le punk et le pays ont été lancées par Jason et les Scorchers, et dans la scène de cowpunk de Californie du Sud des années 80 avec des bandes comme les Long Ryders.
