QUE SIGNIFIE AMES TEST EN ANGLAIS
Test d'Ames
Le test d'Ames est une méthode largement utilisée qui utilise des bactéries pour vérifier si un produit chimique donné peut causer un cancer. Plus formellement, il s'agit d'un dosage biologique pour évaluer le potentiel mutagène des composés chimiques. Un test positif indique que le produit chimique est mutagène et peut donc agir comme cancérogène, car le cancer est souvent lié à une mutation. Le test sert d'essai rapide et pratique pour estimer le potentiel cancérogène d'un composé, car les analyses de carcinogène standard chez les souris et les rats coûtent beaucoup de temps et coûtent cher. Cependant, les faux positifs et les faux négatifs sont connus. La procédure a été décrite dans une série de documents au début des années 1970 par Bruce Ames et son groupe à l'Université de Californie à Berkeley.
