Autoradiographie
Une autoradiographie est une image sur un film de rayons X ou une émulsion nucléaire produite par le schéma des émissions de désintégration provenant d'une distribution d'une substance radioactive. Alternativement, l'autoradiographie est également disponible sous forme d'image numérique, en raison du développement récent de détecteurs de gaz à scintillation ou de systèmes de phosphorisation des terres rares. Le film ou l'émulsion est apposé sur la section de tissu marquée pour obtenir l'autoradiographie. Le préfixe automatique indique que la substance radioactive se trouve dans l'échantillon, en distinguant du cas de l'historadiographie ou de la microradiographie, dans laquelle l'échantillon est rayonné à l'aide d'une source externe. Certaines autoradiographies peuvent être examinées microscopiquement pour la localisation des grains d'argent dans lesquels le procédé est appelé micro-autoradiographie. Par exemple, la micro autoradiographie a été utilisée pour examiner si l'atrazine était métabolisée par la plante de hornwort ou par des microorganismes épiphytes dans la couche de biofilm entourant la plante.
