Couche limite
En physique et en mécanique des fluides, une couche limite est la couche de fluide au voisinage immédiat d'une surface de délimitation où les effets de la viscosité sont significatifs. Dans l'atmosphère terrestre, la couche limite planétaire est la couche d'air près du sol affectée par la chaleur quotidienne, l'humidité ou le transfert de momentum vers ou depuis la surface. Lorsqu'un fluide tourne et que les forces visqueuses sont équilibrées par l'effet Coriolis, une couche Ekman se forme. Dans la théorie du transfert de chaleur, une couche limite thermique se produit. Une surface peut avoir plusieurs types de couche limite simultanément.
