Chytridiomycota
Chytridiomycota est une division du royaume Fungi. Le nom est dérivé du chytridion grec, qui signifie «petit pot», décrivant la structure contenant des zoospores non publiées. Dans les classifications plus anciennes, les chytrides ont été placées dans la classe Phycomycetes sous la subdivision Myxomycophyta du royaume Fungi. À un autre moment, ils ont été placés dans la Mastigomycotina comme classe Chytridiomycetes. En outre, dans un sens plus ancien et plus restreint, le terme "chytrides" se référait juste à ces champignons dans l'ordre Chytridiales. Ici, le terme "chytride" ne fera référence qu'aux membres de Chytridiomycota. Les chytrides ont également été inclus parmi les Protist, mais sont régulièrement classés comme des champignons. Les chytrides sont l'une des premières lignées de champignons divergentes et sont des matériaux réfractaires saprobiques, dégradants tels que la chitine et la kératine, ou agissent comme des parasites. Leur appartenance à un champignon romain est démontrée avec des parois cellulaires de chitine, un flagellum cervical postérieur, une nutrition absorbante, l'utilisation du glycogène en tant que composé de stockage d'énergie et la synthèse de la lysine par voie a-amino adipique. Il y a environ 750 espèces de chytrides réparties entre 7 commandes.
