Convention (norme)
Une convention est un ensemble de normes, de normes sociales ou de critères convenus, généralement reconnus ou généralement acceptés, prenant souvent la forme d'une coutume. Certains types de règles ou de douanes peuvent devenir des lois et une législation réglementaire peut être introduite pour formaliser ou faire respecter la convention. Dans un contexte social, une convention peut conserver le caractère d'une «loi non écrite» de la coutume. Dans les sciences physiques, les valeurs numériques sont appelées conventionnelles si elles ne représentent pas une propriété mesurée de la nature, mais proviennent d'une convention, par exemple une moyenne de nombreuses mesures, convenue entre les scientifiques qui travaillent avec ces valeurs.
