Coppicing
Coppicing est un terme en anglais pour une méthode traditionnelle de gestion des forêts qui profite du fait que de nombreux arbres produisent une nouvelle croissance de la souche ou des racines si elles sont abattues. Dans un bois coppiced, les tiges de jeunes arbres sont abaissées à plusieurs reprises au niveau du sol près. Dans les années de croissance suivantes, de nombreuses nouvelles pousses surgiront, et, après un certain nombre d'années, l'arbre coppé, ou les selles, est prêt à être récolté, et le cycle recommence. Beaucoup de pratiques forestières dans le monde impliquent la coupe et la repousse, et le coppage a été important dans de nombreuses régions de l'Europe tempérée des terres humides. La pratique répandue et à long terme de la tarification en tant qu'industrie à l'échelle du paysage est quelque chose qui revêt une importance particulière dans les basses terres de l'Angleterre.
