Substitution de la monnaie
La substitution de la monnaie se produit lorsque les habitants d'un pays utilisent une devise étrangère parallèlement à la monnaie nationale ou à la place de celle-ci. La substitution de la monnaie peut être complète ou partielle. La substitution intégrale de la monnaie a eu lieu dans de petits pays, principalement en Amérique latine, dans les Caraïbes et dans le Pacifique, qui dépendent fortement des États-Unis. Le remplacement partiel de la monnaie se produit lorsque les résidents d'un pays choisissent de détenir une part importante de leurs actifs financiers libellés en devises étrangères. Les principales devises utilisées comme substituts sont le dollar des États-Unis, l'euro, le dollar néo-zélandais, le franc suisse, la roupie indienne, le dollar australien, le drame arménien, la lira turque, le shekel israélien et le rouble russe.
