Fluidisation
La fluidisation est un processus similaire à la liquéfaction, grâce à quoi un matériau granulaire est converti d'un état solide statique à un état fluide dynamique. Ce processus se produit lorsqu'un fluide est transmis à travers le matériau granulaire. Lorsqu'un flux de gaz est introduit par le fond d'un lit de particules solides, il se déplacera vers le haut à travers le lit par les espaces vides entre les particules. À des vitesses de gaz faibles, la traction aérodynamique sur chaque particule est également faible, et donc le lit reste dans un état fixe. En augmentant la vitesse, les forces de traction aérodynamique commencent à contrer les forces de gravité, ce qui amène le lit à se dilater en volume lorsque les particules s'éloignent les unes des autres. En augmentant encore la vitesse, il atteindra une valeur critique à laquelle les forces de traînée ascendantes seront exactement égales aux forces de gravité descendantes, ce qui entraînera la suspension des particules dans le fluide. À cette valeur critique, on dit que le lit est fluidisé et présente un comportement fluidique.
