Gambusia
Gambusia est un grand genre de poisson dans la famille Poeciliidae. Gambusia contient plus de 40 espèces, dont la plupart se trouvent principalement dans les habitats d'eau douce, bien que certaines espèces puissent également être trouvées dans les habitats saumâtres ou d'eau salée. L'espèce type est la gambusia cubaine, G. punctata. La plus grande richesse d'espèces se trouve au Mexique, au Texas et aux Grandes Antilles, mais il existe également des espèces ailleurs dans les États-Unis de l'Est et du Sud, des Bahamas, de l'Amérique centrale et de la Colombie. Les espèces de Gambusia sont souvent appelées topminnows ou simplement gambusias; Ils sont également connus sous le nom de moustique, ce qui renvoie plus spécifiquement à deux espèces, G. affinis et G. holbrooki.
