Hotan, Hetian ou Khotan est le siège de la préfecture de Hotan dans le sud-ouest du Xinjiang, République populaire de Chine. Il était auparavant connu en chinois comme Yutian et les explorateurs européens du XIXe siècle comme Ilchi. Avec une population de 114 000 personnes, Hotan est une ville d'oasis située dans le bassin de Tarim, juste au nord des montagnes de Kunlun, traversées par le col de Sanju, et le hindou-tagh et Ilchi.
