Impossibilisme
L'imposture est une théorie sur l'émergence du socialisme et d'une perspective marxiste qui souligne la valeur limitée des réformes politiques, économiques et sociales au sein d'une économie capitaliste. Il fait valoir que la poursuite de telles réformes est contre-productive parce qu'elles renforcent le soutien du système actuel, contribuant ainsi à la poursuite du capitalisme. L'impossibilité d'affirmer que la poursuite de telles réformes ne devrait pas constituer une préoccupation majeure pour les socialistes, car ils ne sont pas pertinents, sinon contre-productifs, dans l'objectif de réaliser le socialisme. L'imposture insiste sur le fait que les socialistes doivent se concentrer uniquement sur les changements structurels de la société par opposition à l'avancement des réformes sociales. Les imposteurs affirment que l'action révolutionnaire spontanée est la seule méthode viable pour instaurer les changements structurels nécessaires à la construction du socialisme. L'imposition est donc opposée aux partis socialistes réformistes qui visent à soutenir le socialisme par la mise en œuvre de réformes sociales populaires ou ceux qui croient que le socialisme peut émerger par des réformes économiques progressives mises en place par un parti politique démocratique élu.
