International Date Line

La Ligne internationale de la date est une ligne imaginaire à la surface de la Terre qui s'étend du nord au pôle sud et délimite un jour calendrier à partir de l'autre. Il traverse le milieu de l'océan Pacifique, à peu près à la longitude de 180 °, mais il s'écarte de certains territoires et groupes d'îles. L'IDL est du côté opposé de la Terre au Premier Meridian. Le premier méridien est utilisé pour définir le temps universel et est le méridien à partir duquel tous les autres fuseaux horaires sont calculés. Les fuseaux horaires à l'est du Premier Meridian sont en avance sur UTC; Les fuseaux horaires vers l'ouest sont derrière UTC. L'IDL est la ligne entre les plus hauts et les fuseaux horaires les plus bas. L'IDL et le point de déplacement de minuit séparent les deux jours civils qui sont présents quelque part sur Terre. The International Date Line is an imaginary line on the surface of the Earth that runs from the north to the south pole and demarcates one calendar day from the next. It passes through the middle of the Pacific Ocean, roughly following the 180° longitude but it deviates to pass around some territories and island groups. The IDL is on the opposite side of the Earth to the Prime Meridian. The Prime Meridian is used to define Universal Time and is the meridian from which all other time zones are calculated. Time zones to the east of the Prime Meridian are in advance of UTC; time zones to the west are behind UTC. The IDL is the line between those highest and those lowest time zones. The IDL and the moving point of midnight separate the two calendar days that are current somewhere on Earth. However, during a two-hour period between 10:00 and 11:59 each day, three different calendar days are in use. This is because of daylight saving in the UTC+12 zone and the use of additional date-shifted time zones in areas east of the 180th meridian.
