Leith a longtemps été considéré comme le port d'Édimbourg. Il se trouve sur la rive sud du Firth of Forth, dans l'autorité locale unitaire de la ville d'Édimbourg. Leith a d'abord été mentionné dans la charte autorisant la construction de l'abbaye de Holyrood, et il est officiellement devenu le port d'Édimbourg en 1329 lorsque Robert I a transféré le contrôle aux magistrats et aux citoyens d'Édimbourg.
