New-Netherland était une province coloniale du 17ème siècle des Sept Pays-Bas unis qui était situé sur la côte Est de l'Amérique du Nord. Les territoires revendiqués s'étendent de la péninsule de Delmarva à l'extrême sud-ouest de Cape Cod, tandis que les régions plus limitées sont maintenant constituées dans les États du Mid-Atlantic de New York, du New Jersey, du Delaware et du Connecticut, avec de petits avant-postes en Pennsylvanie et au Rhode Island. Au cours des années 1650, la colonie a connu une croissance spectaculaire et est devenue un important port de commerce dans l'Atlantique Nord.
