Post-capitaine est une forme alternative obsolète du rang de capitaine dans la Royal Navy. Le terme a servi à distinguer ceux qui étaient capitaines par rang de: ▪ Officiers au commandement d'un navire naval, qui ont été désignés comme capitaine indépendamment du rang; ▪ Les commandants, qui ont reçu le titre de capitaine en tant que courtoisie, qu'ils aient ou non un commandement; Cette coutume est maintenant décédée.
