Proton
Le proton est une particule subatomique avec le symbole p ou p + et une charge électrique positive de 1 charge élémentaire. Un ou plusieurs protons sont présents dans le noyau de chaque atome. Les protons et les neutrons sont collectivement appelés «nucléons». Le nombre de protons dans le noyau d'un atome est appelé son nombre atomique. Comme chaque élément possède un nombre unique de protons, chaque élément possède son propre nombre atomique unique. Le nom de proton a été donné au noyau d'hydrogène par Ernest Rutherford en 1920, car il avait découvert au cours des années précédentes que le noyau d'hydrogène pouvait être extrait des noyaux d'azote par collision et était donc un candidat pour être une particule fondamentale et un bloc de construction D'azote et tous les autres noyaux atomiques plus lourds.
