Effet de position en série
L'effet de position en série est la tendance d'une personne à rappeler le premier et le dernier élément d'une série et les éléments intermédiaires les plus mauvais. Le terme a été inventé par Hermann Ebbinghaus à travers des études qu'il a effectuées sur lui-même, se réfère à la constatation que la précision du rappel varie en fonction de la position d'un article dans une liste d'étude. Lorsqu'on leur demande de rappeler une liste d'articles dans n'importe quelle commande, les gens ont tendance à commencer à se rappeler avec la fin de la liste, en rappelant ces articles mieux. Parmi les éléments de liste antérieurs, les premiers éléments sont rappelés plus fréquemment que les éléments intermédiaires. Une raison suggérée pour l'effet de primauté est que les éléments initiaux présentés sont stockés le plus efficacement dans la mémoire à long terme en raison de la plus grande quantité de traitement qui leur est consacrée. L'effet de primauté est réduit lorsque les éléments sont présentés rapidement et sont améliorés lorsqu'ils sont présentés lentement. Des listes de présentation plus longues ont été trouvées pour réduire l'effet de primauté. Une raison théorisée de l'effet récurrent est que ces éléments sont toujours présents dans la mémoire de travail lorsque le rappel est demandé. Les articles qui ne bénéficient d'aucun des deux ne sont plus rappelés.
