L'heuristique de représentation
L'heuristique de représentativité est utilisée lors de jugements sur la probabilité d'un événement sous incertitude. C'est l'un des groupes d'heuristiques proposés par les psychologues Amos Tversky et Daniel Kahneman au début des années 1970. Les heuristiques sont décrites comme des «raccourcis de jugement qui, en général, nous amènent là où nous devons aller - et rapidement - mais au prix de nous envoyer occasionnellement.» Les heuristiques sont utiles car elles utilisent une réduction d'effort et une simplification dans la prise de décision. Tversky et Kahneman ont défini la représentativité comme "le degré auquel est similaire dans les caractéristiques essentielles de sa population mère et reflète les caractéristiques saillantes du processus par lequel elle est générée". Lorsque les gens comptent sur la représentativité pour faire des jugements, ils sont susceptibles de juger à tort parce que le fait que quelque chose soit plus représentatif ne le rend plus probable.
