Un rétroréflecteur est un dispositif ou une surface qui reflète la lumière vers sa source avec un minimum de diffusion. Un front d'onde électromagnétique est réfléchi le long d'un vecteur parallèle mais opposé en direction de la source de l'onde. L'angle d'incidence auquel l'appareil ou la surface reflète la lumière de cette façon est supérieur à zéro, contrairement à un miroir plan, ce qui ne fonctionne que si le miroir est exactement perpendiculaire au front d'onde, ayant un angle d'incidence zéro.
