Étoile binaire
Une étoile binaire est un système étoile composé de deux étoiles autour d'un centre commun de masse. L'étoile plus massive est appelée le primaire et l'autre est son étoile, vient / koʊmiːz /, ou secondaire. Les doubles optiques sont ainsi appelés parce que les deux étoiles apparaissent proches dans le ciel comme on le voit de la Terre; Ils sont presque sur la même ligne de visée. Néanmoins, leur "doubleness" dépend uniquement de cet effet optique; Les étoiles elles-mêmes sont éloignées les unes des autres et ne partagent aucune connexion physique. Une double étoile peut être révélée comme optique par des différences dans leurs mesures de parallaxe, les mouvements appropriés ou les vitesses radiales.
