Seroconversion
La seroconversion est le développement d'anticorps spécifiques détectables à des microorganismes dans le sérum sanguin à la suite d'une infection ou d'une immunisation. Avant le point de séroconversion, l'antigène est répandu et l'anticorps correspondant n'est pas détectable dans les sérums. Après la séroconversion, l'anticorps devient répandu et l'antigène correspondant n'est plus détectable dans les sérums. Les complexes antigène-anticorps formés dans un organisme sont rapidement éliminés par plusieurs mécanismes immunitaires, de sorte que seul le parti dominant d'un complexe immunitaire est détectable dans les sérums sanguins.
