Strabisme
Le strabisme, également connu sous le nom d'hétérotopie, est une condition dans laquelle les yeux ne sont pas correctement alignés les uns avec les autres. Il implique généralement un manque de coordination entre les muscles extraoculaires, ce qui empêche de porter le regard de chaque œil au même point dans l'espace et entrave ainsi la vision binoculaire appropriée et peut nuire à la perception de la profondeur. Le strabisme est principalement géré par des ophtalmologistes, des optométristes et des orthoptistes. Le strabisme est présent dans environ 4% des enfants. Le traitement devrait commencer dès que possible pour assurer le développement de la meilleure acuité visuelle possible et des stéréopsis.
