Château de Tintagel
Le château de Tintagel est une fortification médiévale située sur la péninsule de l'île de Tintagel, à côté du village de Tintagel à Cornwall, en Angleterre, au Royaume-Uni. Le site a probablement été occupé dans la période romano-britannique, car une série d'artefacts datant de cette période ont été trouvés dans la péninsule, mais aucune structure de l'époque romaine n'a encore existé. Il a ensuite vu la colonisation au début de la période médiévale, alors qu'il était probablement l'une des résidences saisonnières du roi régional de Dumnonia. Au 13ème siècle, au cours de la période médiévale tardive, après que Cornwall ait été inclus dans le royaume d'Angleterre, un château a été construit sur le site par Richard, Earl of Cornwall, qui plus tard tombé dans le froid et la ruine. L'enquête archéologique sur le site a débuté au 19ème siècle, puisqu'elle est devenue une attraction touristique, les visiteurs venant voir les ruines du château de Richard.
