Titien
Tiziano Vecelli ou Tiziano Vecellio, généralement connu sous le nom de Tiziano, et en anglais Titian / tɪʃən /, était un peintre italien, le membre le plus important de l'école vénitienne du XVIe siècle. Il est né à Pieve di Cadore, près de Belluno, en République de Venise. Au cours de sa vie, il s'appelait souvent Da Cadore, retiré du lieu de sa naissance. Reconnu par ses contemporains comme «Le Soleil au milieu des petites étoiles», Titien était l'un des peintres italiens les plus polyvalents, tout aussi habiles avec des portraits, des milieux paysagers et des sujets mythologiques et religieux. Ses méthodes de peinture, en particulier dans l'application et l'utilisation de la couleur, exerceraient une influence profonde non seulement sur les peintres de la Renaissance italienne, mais aussi sur les générations futures de l'art occidental. Au cours de sa longue vie, la manière artistique de Titien a changé drastiquement, mais il a conservé un intérêt vital pour la couleur. Bien que ses œuvres matures ne contiennent pas les teintes vives et lumineuses de ses premiers morceaux, leur brossage et leur subtilité de ton sont sans précédent dans l'histoire de l'art occidental.
