La vidéo désagréable était un terme familier au Royaume-Uni popularisé par la National Viewers 'and Listeners' Association pour se référer à un certain nombre de films distribués sur cassette vidéo au début des années 1980 qui ont été critiqués pour leur contenu violent par la presse, les commentateurs sociaux et Diverses organisations religieuses. Ces reportages vidéo n'ont pas été portés devant le British Board of Film Censors, qui aurait pu censurer ou interdire beaucoup de films, en raison d'une lacune dans les lois sur la classification du film. En conséquence, cela a entraîné une excroissance des rejets vidéo potentiellement censurés, ce qui a conduit à un débat public concernant la disponibilité de ces films pour les enfants en raison de la nature non réglementée du marché. Suite à une campagne morale menée par Mary Whitehouse et la NVALA, les juridictions locales ont commencé à poursuivre certaines publications vidéo pour obscénité. Pour aider les autorités locales à identifier les films obscènes, le Directeur des poursuites publiques a publié une liste de 72 films dont le bureau a cru violer la Loi sur les publications obscènes de 1959. Cette liste comprenait des films qui avaient été acquittés d'obscénité dans certaines juridictions ou qui avaient déjà obtenu BBFC Certification.
