La section Kapit couvre l'intérieur après la section Sibu. Sa superficie est de 38.934 kilomètres carrés. La zone administrative de Kapit comprend les districts de Kapit, Belaga et Song. Ces trois districts sont régis par le Conseil du district de Kapit. La population totale sous l'administration du conseil de district basé sur le recensement de 2000 était 98.841. La population de Kapit est seulement 56 709. La majorité de la population du Kapit est composée d'Iban, suivie par les Chinois et les Malais. Kapit est bien connu pour les fruits de dabai et de durian. La ville de Kapit est située sur les rives de la rivière Rejang. Il peut être atteint par la rivière en utilisant le service de bateau express. La ville de Kapit est située au milieu de la ville de Song et Belaga. Figure Charles Brooke a fondé le fort Kapit en 1880 en tant que ville de garnison, dans le but d'empêcher la communauté Iban de traverser la rivière et d'attaquer ensuite la colonie de la colonie d'Orang Ulu. Puis la forteresse est rebaptisée Fort Sylvia ou, en conjonction avec le nom de l'épouse de Rajah Vyner Brooke, mais la ville conserve son nom de Kapit.
