La persécution ou la punition est une personne ou un groupe qui est insulté avec insistance par une autre personne ou un autre groupe. Les formes les plus courantes sont la persécution religieuse, la persécution ethnique et la persécution politique, mais ces termes peuvent se chevaucher. L'exemple le plus courant est que le groupe majoritaire persécute les groupes minoritaires, l'application de l'inverse est souvent difficile, mais l'apartheid en Afrique du Sud est considéré comme une exception.
