Il pungolamento o il bastinado è una forma di punizione corporale in cui le suole dei piedi nudi di una persona vengono ripetutamente battuti con un attrezzo. È anche indicato come caning piedi / piedi caning, solo caning, battito da sole o cane inferiore del piede. Il particolare metodo Mid East è chiamato falaka, anche falaqa, falanga o phalanga, derivati dal termine greco falange. Il termine tedesco più comune è Bastonade, in passato Sohlenstreich. Ancora è perlopiù parafrasato con "fünfzig" auf die Fußsohlen nel discorso linguistico tedesco, letteralmente tradotto da "cinquanta" sulle suole dei piedi. In Cina viene chiamato jiao xing. La prima documentazione del bastinado nelle civiltà europee risale all'anno 1537, in Cina a 960. È citata nella bibbia in più passaggi, indicando che è stata praticata fin dai tempi antichi. La fecondazione del piede è perlopiù associata alle civiltà medio e lontane, dove è occasionalmente eseguita in pubblico e coperta da rapporti e fotografie.
