Le cotinghe sono una grande famiglia di specie di uccelli passerina trovate in America Centrale e Sud America tropicale. Cotingas sono uccelli di foreste o bordi forestali, che mangiano soprattutto frutta o insetti e frutta. Relativamente poco si sa di questo gruppo diverso, anche se tutti hanno bollette larghe con punte agganciate, ali arrotondate e gambe forti. Possono essere la famiglia passerina più diversa in dimensione corporea, che vanno dal calyptura da 8 cm di diametro al ombrello di Amazonian maschio da 50 cm, anche se l'uccello più piccolo non può essere una vera e propria cotinga.
