Scarpata
Una scarpata è un pendio ripido o una lunga scogliera che si verifica da errori e conseguente erosione e separa due aree relativamente alte di diverse altezze. Di solito la scarpata viene utilizzata in modo intercambiabile con scarp. Ma alcune fonti differenziano i due termini, dove la scarpata si riferisce al margine tra due forme di terra, mentre la scarp è sinonimo di una scogliera o di un ripido pendio. La superficie del pendio ripido è chiamata faccia scarp.
