CHE SIGNIFICA HYPERTONICITY IN INGLESE
Tonicità
La tonalità è una misura dell'effettivo gradiente di pressione osmotica di due soluzioni separate da una membrana semipermeabile. Viene comunemente usato quando si descrive la risposta delle cellule immerse in una soluzione esterna. A differenza della pressione osmotica, la tonicità è influenzata solo da soluti che non possono attraversare la membrana, in quanto solo questi esercitano una pressione osmotica efficace. I soluti in grado di attraversare liberamente la membrana non influenzano la tonicità perché saranno sempre in uguali concentrazioni su entrambi i lati della membrana. Ci sono tre classificazioni di tonicità che una soluzione può avere rispetto ad un altro. I tre sono ipertonici, ipotoni e isotoni.
