Jitter è la deviazione non desiderata dalla vera periodicità di un segnale periodico presunto nell'elettronica e nelle telecomunicazioni, spesso in relazione ad una sorgente di clock di riferimento. Il jitter può essere osservato in caratteristiche come la frequenza degli impulsi successivi, l'ampiezza del segnale, o la fase dei segnali periodici. Il Jitter è un fattore significativo e di solito indesiderato nella progettazione di quasi tutti i collegamenti di comunicazione. La frequenza di jitter, la figura più comunemente citata, è il suo inverso. ITU-T G.810 classifica frequenze di jitter inferiori a 10 Hz come wander e frequenze al di sopra di 10 Hz come jitter. Il jitter può essere causato da interferenze elettromagnetiche e crosstalk con vettori di altri segnali.
